3.Basic goal of the main curriculums
Chinese:
The students are expected to have a strong ability to express themselves
and to make exposition. They are trained to do fast reading, finishing
reading 4 million words and more a year. They should be able to a write
articles of narration, exposition, and can express their idea through
their writings.
Mathematics:
The teaching task stipulated in the teaching Syllabus of junior middle
school should be fulfilled with high quality. Through teaching of mathematics
the students will be given full play to their mathematical talent, and
a solid foundation will be laid for their further study of mathematics.
English:
The student will be able to listen and speak in English, and have daily
communications with others. The students should have ability to express
themselves. They should consolidate the words they learned in primary
school years and can use them freely, They should grasp more special
technical terms, and the words already learned should be accumulated
to 8000, up to the level of Grade I of senior middle school. Their grammatical
knowledge should be equivalent to that of junior middle school graduates
or Grade I high school students.
Science:
The lessons of natural science are given in English so that the students
can acquire knowledge of both science and English, with emphasis on
English study and increasing the amount the learned technical term.
History:
The lessons of history are given in English, The students will study
world history, enrich their vocabulary, and practise listening and speaking.
Through history study the students will be able to make expositions
about society and humanities.
Computer:
Computers will be used in part of the teaching curriculums become tools
for studying, and moreover, they will be the most commonly used tools
in teaching and daily life. The students should learn to do computer-aided
drawing, table-making, sending and receiving E-mail, and reading through
networks.
Music and fine arts:
(Electives)
Students may choose different musical instruments, vocal music, painting
and appreciation on music or fine arts as their electives according
to their interest and strong points. Everyone should choose one of the
electives.
Callisthenics:
Through exercise the students will acquire some dancing knowledge and
skill, and keep a good bodily form and posture in sitting, standing
and walking.
Physical education:
Physical education will include such contents as basketball, volleyball,
tennis, football, callisthenics, etc. The students will have twenty
minutes training in swimming everyday. Through physical education the
students is expected to have a good habit and learn to do so physical
exercise.
Other subjects:
The knowledge such as psychology and the development of modern society
are given in the form of lectures or practice to make the students have
a better understanding about the problems concerned and learn to know
how to get information and knowledge.
Extra-curricular
activities:
Students may choose to learn to do scientific making, ceramic craft,
etc, to practise manual and creative work.
